Each visit to Le Méridien Barcelona will represent a truly active discovery... The experiences that we are offering have been created alongside LM100, a community of cultural innovators and creative experts from areas as diverse as art, architecture, fashion and cuisine. The visionary artist Jérôme Sans, Le Méridien's Cultural Curator, has been contracted to advise Le Méridien on identifying and employing any artists who join LM100TM, in order to offer their creative talents in the development of new Le Méridien experiences. Some names that stand out from this select group include the coffee promoter, Andrea Illy; the painters Michael Lin, Hisham Bharoocha and Sam Samore; the photographers Ralph Gibson and Joan Fontcuberta; the Le Labo perfumers Eddie Roschi and Fabrice Penot; the chef Jean Georges Vongerichten and the sommelier Linda Grabe; the filmmaker Kiki Allgeier...

UNLOCK ART The key of your room opens more than just a door Rooms keys that open more than just a door, can also open your Mind. The keys designed by the LM100 group of international creators open up local culture for you, offering you free access to an institution displaying contemporary culture that is close to the hotel. Le Méridien and its cultural curator Jérôme Sans have launched a cultural agreement between these institutions in order to encourage customers to explore the culture of their destination. In Barcelona they chose the MacBa (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art) which houses many of the most famous works of Cézanne, Picasso, Pollock, Johns and Warhol, as well as holding numerous contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year. The MacBa building, designed by the American architect Richard Meier, is an important piece of architecture whose parallelogram shape includes another cubic element and allows daylight in to illuminate all the building's floors. Furthermore, the keys are works of art in their own right which will themselves be collectible after a few years. In late 2008, the UNLOCK ART programme will be fully implemented in all Le Méridien hotels worldwide. This year, Le Méridien is celebrating three UNLOCK ART LM100 artists with their respective series of keys: Michael Lin, Sam Samore and Hisham Bharoocha. MACBA PASSPORT Upon arrival, hotel guests will receive an invitation to the MACBA museum. The building (1995) is located in the Raval district just a few meters from Le Méridien Barcelona. The MACBA, through the collection and program of exhibitions and activities aimed at building a critical memory of art of the second half of the twentieth century. |

MICHAEL LIN kEYS Michael Lin has used his pink floral designs in the first collectible series and set of keys that our guests can discover all Le Méridien hotels worldwide. Born in Japan, and raised in Taipei and Los Angeles, Michael Lin is internationally known for his floral paintings and textile designs inspired by Chinese and Taiwan. His installations are conceived of only for a particular place, often in public areas or roads or places of transition. |
